From The Patients...
After speaking with many patients, several requested that I set up a place where they could
tell their stories. I have set aside this area so that their stories, in their own words would
be related to the world. The following are the patients' unedited comments. In addition, several
of these patients have included their email address so that should you have questions/concerns/etc.
and would like to get their perspectives and experiences, you can send these requests directly to them.
They truly understand what it is like to be in a similar position to yourself and are eager to help
in any way they can. I hope that you find this patient perspectives area useful.

Fuchs Corneal Dystrophy |
Today I passed the Vision Test for my drivers license renewal - my third try! Thank you Dr. Maller for
restoring my independence. I can drive again. Here's my story:
After cataract surgery several years ago, my vision failed to improve as anticipated. After many visits
and tests with my ophthalmologist, I was diagnosed with Fuch's Dystrophy - a cornea problem.
My drivers license was up for renewal in June and I was required to take the vision test (I am over 80).
I did not pass! No license - no independence! No driving.
Dr. Maller was suggested to me as a doctor who did wonders with cornea problems. He did not disappoint!
Custom contacts (rigid lens) were suggested. After several visits, many tries at putting them in and
removing them - I almost gave up, but Dr. Maller was so kind and patient and so sure that I would succeed -
that I finally did!!
I passed the vision test and I am so grateful to Dr. Maller for his knowledge and his kind and positive attitude.
