After speaking with many patients, several requested that I set up a place where they could tell their stories. I have set aside this area so that their stories, in their own words would be relayed to the world. The following are the patients' unedited comments. In addition, several of these patients have included their email address so that should you have questions/concerns/etc. and would like to get their perspectives and experiences, you can send these requests directly to them. They truly understand what it is like to be in a similar position as yourself and are eager to help in any way they can. I hope that you find this patient perspectives area useful.

Orthokeratology - Plus/ Hyperopia/ Presbyopia

Approximately three years ago my cousin shared with me her amazing experience with Orthokeratology. I returned to Florida questioned my Ophthalmologist and dismissed it. I recently saw my cousin again this past August (she lives in Colorado and I live in Florida). As we spent the weekend together I could not believe that at her age (in her 50s) she was not wearing contacts or reading glasses. Again, she shared her story of “wearing contacts at night that corrected her vision”. I immediately returned to Florida researching Orthokeratology. Her Colorado doctor suggested two websites for locating a qualified doctor. Upon reviewing the websites and interviewing a few doctors I felt that Dr. Maller was the most qualified and the doctor that I was most comfortable working with. Initially (having never worn contacts) I was a little nervous. Upon receiving my contacts my long distance was restored almost immediately! Unbelievable I know, but for me what was more profound was that I started wearing the contacts on Monday night and by Sunday morning I read the newspaper WITH NO GLASSES. This comes from someone who 6 days earlier had no less than 15 pairs of reading glasses strategically placed throughout my home. My vision had actually gotten so bad that I could not read labels in a grocery store. And after my initial examination, Dr, Maller told me that I technically should not be driving without out glasses. I couldn’t see far, near and had astigmatism! I have been wearing my lenses TWO WEEKS and no longer need glasses to read, text or drive. Its crazy I know but to me the real tragedy is this kind of treatment is available and not well known.
